All puppies are cute but before you buy or rescue please do your research.  What you think may be the right dog for you could be your worst decision of that dogs life.   Yes, I said the dogs life not your.

Meet the Breed:  Local shows and hunts are best way to educate, meet the breeds and their owners

If you must buy a puppy

1. Talk to a number of people about the breed you are interested in.

2. Go to their place see the dogs in their home environment .

3. Ask if they have a return policy, get it in writing .

4. Be sure you can go back to that person if you have questions

5. Remember if they are pushing a pup on you and giving bargin they are just sell you a dog.

6. Not all dogs make the cut for show dogs and hunting prospects; remember an older pup or dog make excellent pets 90% if not 100%  of the time the hard work is already done for you.   You just need to add LOVE.

7. Kennels that breed numberous litters a year should threw a red flag, kennels that breed like this doesn't always make them a big kennel.  It just means they breed a lot of puppies.   Be sure they have a written return or replacement policy.

Rescue Dogs and Puppies

Every year thousands of purebred coonhounds and mixed coonhounds end up in shelters and rescues.   Many will never leave alive.   Over breeding, not making the cut for hunting , the ones the owner just didn't have time for and the uneducated new owner of a coonhound  will end up there.

Please for their lives, if you are looking for a pet for your family and you believe the coonhound is the dog for you.  So many of them  make the perfect family member.  YOU WILL NOT ONLY SAVE A LIFE , A RESCUE DOGS GIVES YOU TEN TIMES THE LOVE BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEY BEEN RESCUED.
